if y’all don’t care about my personal life that’s totally fine and just skip over this post lol- but i’ve had some questions about the patches on my arm/ hip so figured i’d answer a couple questions.

i was diagnosed with type one diabetes when i was 7 and i am currently 24! the patch on my arm is called a dexcom sensor that i change every 10 days which checks my bl00d* sugar, and the pod on my hip is called an omnipod insulin pump that i change every 3 days, which delivers insulin via a separate bluetooth device that communicates with the pod.

it’s honestly a really difficult disease to live with that i don’t talk about too much, but it takes up a lot of my time and mental capacity just to keep myself alive. it’s also expensive. i have an enormous amount of medical copays a month even with insurance, and 2 months ago i was hospitalized with something called diabetic ketoacidosis, which is pretty serious and put me in the icu for 3 days. 3 days in an icu is also very expensive, and is the main reason that i started this account. not saying any of this for pity or even for money, just want to share a little about myself and just make the point that some days are harder than others. but sometimes i’m also grateful that i think this disease has made me a more patient and compassionate person 🤷🏻‍♀️
